Students should check the&nbsp;<a href=\"\/academics\/registration-dates\">Registration Dates<\/a>&nbsp;carefully to ensure they are following the correct procedures. The steps below also only apply for adding classes that either have open seats available, or for which the student has already been issued a permission.<\/span> The system will not allow you to drop the last remaining class on your schedule. If you are attempting to drop the only course on your schedule, please contact the Ross Registrar&#8217;s Office to request a term withdrawal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><a href=\"#Before the Drop\/Add Deadline\">Before the Drop\/Add Deadline<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><a href=\"#After the Drop\/Add Deadline\">After the Drop\/Add Deadline<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>DROP\/ADD DEADLINES<\/strong> generally occur:<\/span>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">One to two weeks after the beginning of A or B term (First or Second 7 Week) classes<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Three weeks after the beginning of Regular (full) term classes<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>WEB REGISTRATION<\/strong> closes at the end of the day on the drop\/add deadline for the class, at which point no online changes can be made to your schedule for that particular term without approval from the Ross Registrar&#8217;s Office.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><a name=\"Before the Drop\/Add Deadline\"><\/a><strong>\u00a0<u>Before the Drop\/Add Deadline<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Go to Wolverine Access at <a href=\"https:\/\/wolverineaccess.umich.edu\/\">wolverineaccess.umich.edu<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Under &#8220;Students&#8221; click on &#8220;Student Business&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Log in with your uniqname and ITD (Kerberos) password<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Under &#8220;Student Center&#8221; click on &#8220;Backpack\/Registration&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong><u>Be Aware of Class Attendance Policies:<\/u><\/strong>&nbsp; If adding a class after the first week, you will need to check with the instructor&nbsp;<u>prior<\/u>&nbsp;to registering. See&nbsp;<a href=\"\/academics\/course-registration-rules-policies\">Course Registration Rules &amp; Policies<\/a>&nbsp;for more information about class attendance rules.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">TO ADD:<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Under &#8220;Find Classes,&#8221; select &#8220;Class Search&#8221; and then click on &#8220;Search&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Enter the Subject Code and Catalog Number for the class you wish to add in the &#8220;Class Search Criteria&#8221; box and click &#8220;Search&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">You should now see &#8220;Search Results&#8221; displaying the first section of the course.&nbsp; By clicking on the blue arrow, you can scroll through all sections being offered.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Find the section number of the class for which you want to register<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Click on &#8220;Select Class&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">This should take you to the &#8220;Enrollment Preferences&#8221; screen<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Click on &#8220;Next&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">This should take you to the &#8220;Select Classes to Add&#8221; screen, and you should get a message telling you that the class has been added to your backpack<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Select the class, click on &#8220;Proceed to Step 2 of 3&#8221;, and follow the prompts to officially register for the class<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">After registering, you should receive a message telling you that you are now registered for the class<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>Waitlists<\/strong>&nbsp;remain active on Wolverine Access until the drop\/add deadline for that term. Once there is an active waitlist for a class, students are NOT automatically added to the class when seats become available. It is the student&#8217;s responsibility to watch enrollment numbers and contact the instructor if seats become available.&nbsp; At the instructor&#8217;s discretion, permissions will be issued to the top waitlisted students. To use a permission, students must first drop from the waitlist, and then add the class.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">TO DROP:<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Click on the &#8220;Drop&#8221; Tab<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">If prompted, select the correct term<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Select class(es) you would like to drop<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Verify that you have selected the correct class(es)<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Click &#8220;Drop Selected Classes&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Follow the prompts to finish dropping your classes<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">You should receive a message telling you that you have successfully dropped<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><a name=\"After the Drop\/Add Deadline\"><\/a><u><strong>After the Drop\/Add Deadline<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">These procedures only apply to Business Administration students. Non-Business Administration students must obtain approval from their home school to add or drop classes after the drop\/add deadline.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">For Ross students, the deadline to drop classes is no later than the late drop deadline.&nbsp;See process below for details.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">To Late Add:<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Submit a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/csprod.dsc.umich.edu\/htmldoc\/eng\/dftie\/lsaa\/htm\/sr_ss_latedropaddform.html\">late add<\/a>&nbsp;request&nbsp;through your Student Center in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wolverineaccess.umich.edu\/\">Wolverine Access<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">If your request is approved by the instructor, it will be forwarded\u00a0to the Ross Registrar&#8217;s Office (rossregistrarsoffice@umich.edu) for review. <\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>Please note:<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">You must meet the required standing (e.g., junior, senior, or graduate standing as appropriate)&nbsp;for the desired class.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u200b<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">You must have sufficient credits for the term in order to add the desired class. (The standard credit limit for full-time students is 18.00 credits.)<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Students can view the status of their request upon completion of the form by using the \u201cView Request Status\u201d link under \u201cLate Drop\/Add Request\u201d in their Student Center. The request may also be cancelled in the \u201cView Request Status\u201d page.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">If the \u201cRequest for Late Add\u201d button does not appear, the student should reach out to the Ross Registrars Office for further instructions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">If the late add is approved, the University Registrar&#8217;s Office will add the requested class to your schedule.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">To Late Drop:<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Submit a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/csprod.dsc.umich.edu\/htmldoc\/eng\/dftie\/lsaa\/htm\/sr_ss_latedropaddform.html\">late drop<\/a>&nbsp;request&nbsp;through your Student Center in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wolverineaccess.umich.edu\/\">Wolverine Access<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Once approved by the instructor, the request will be sent&nbsp;to the Ross Registrar&#8217;s Office for approval.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">If the drop is approved, the University Registrar&#8217;s Office will late drop the requested class from your schedule.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>Please note:<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>\u200b<\/strong>When a course is dropped after the deadline, a&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;W&#8221; notation&nbsp;<\/strong>appears on the student&#8217;s transcript indicating that the student elected the course and later dropped it (even if the student never attended the class).&nbsp;This &#8220;W&#8221; has no effect on GPA.&nbsp;<strong>Credits still count towards a student&#8217;s semester total, but not towards degree requirements.<\/strong> <\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Students can view the status of their request upon completion of the form by using the \u201cView Request Status\u201d link under \u201cLate Drop\/Add Request\u201d in their Student Center. Select the class to be added as part of the swap, adjust enrollment preferences if necessary, then click the&nbsp;<strong>Next<\/strong>&nbsp;button. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Confirm your selections and click the&nbsp;<strong>Finish Swapping<\/strong>&nbsp;button. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">If you are eligible to submit a Late Swap request form electronically, a\u00a0<strong>Request for Late Swap<\/strong>\u00a0button displays. Click the button to access the form. If you are not eligible to submit a request, an error message is displayed. If you are not able to submit a late swap request please contact the Ross Registrar&#8217;s Office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To Late Edit:\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From the Student Center, click&nbsp;<strong>Backpack\/Registration<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the&nbsp;<strong>Edit<\/strong>&nbsp;tab, select the class from your schedule to be edited and click the&nbsp;<strong>Proceed to Step 2 of 3<\/strong>&nbsp;button. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Change the grading and\/or units as needed, then click the&nbsp;<strong>Next<\/strong>&nbsp;button. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please note, some classes do not allow the grading and\/or units to be changed. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm the edits to your enrollment options and click the&nbsp;<strong>Finish Editing<\/strong>&nbsp;button. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are eligible to submit a Late Edit request form electronically, a&nbsp;<strong>Request for Late Edit<\/strong>&nbsp;button displays.
