{"id":429,"date":"2012-08-17T08:32:58","date_gmt":"2012-08-17T12:32:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rossweb.bus.umich.edu\/academics\/academics\/lsa\/"},"modified":"2025-09-24T15:53:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-24T19:53:06","slug":"lsa","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/rossweb.bus.umich.edu\/academics\/dual-degrees-minors-special-programs\/bba-dual\/lsa\/","title":{"rendered":"LSA\/BBA Dual Degree"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I.&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#req\">Degree Requirements<\/a><br>II.&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#det\">Degree Details<\/a><br>III.&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#adv\">Advising<\/a><br>IV.&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"#folrm\">Degree Forms<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specifics regarding dual degrees with LSA and Business appear below.&nbsp; For more general information about dual degrees, including overall dual degree requirements and application procedures, please refer to Ross&#8217;s web pages for&nbsp;<a href=\"\/academics\/bba-dual\/prospective\">Prospective Students<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"\/academics\/bba-dual\/applicants\">Applicants<\/a>,&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"\/academics\/bba-dual\/declared\">Declared Dual Degree Students<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Declaration Eligibility:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students admitted as BBA First Years&nbsp;or Preferred Admission, or cross-campus transfer: 3.000 cumulative GPA,&nbsp;<strong>completion<\/strong> of at least 30 credits at UM-Ann Arbor, and ability to declare LSA major (i.e., completion of prerequisite coursework, etc.)&nbsp;at the time of application to the dual degrees program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students admitted as external transfers to the BBA program: 3.000 cumulative GPA and eligible to declare LSA major (i.e., completion of prerequisite coursework, etc.) at the time of application to the dual degrees program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students must be in good academic standing in order to pursue dual degrees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"req\"><\/a>I.&nbsp;&nbsp;Degree Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Complete all BBA degree requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>62 business credits (61 for students who entered the BBA program in Fall 2022 or Fall 2023 as First Year students, or Fall 2023 or Fall 2024 as Sophomores), including fixed and floating core, capstone, and electives (<a href=\"\/academics\/core\/BBA#2014\">see curriculum<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>54 non-business credits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><u><strong>Three<\/strong><\/u>&nbsp;of four distribution area requirements. &nbsp;Refer to the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lsa.umich.edu\/cg\">LSA&nbsp;Course Guide<\/a> to see if a course meets the requirements for a distribution area. &nbsp;Ross does not accept AP&nbsp;credits towards distribution.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Humanities Distribution (HU): 9 credits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Natural Sciences (NS) and\/or Mathematical and Symbolic Analysis (MSA): 9 credits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social Sciences (SS): 9 credits (<strong>excluding Econ 101 &amp; 102<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Foreign Language Proficiency: Fourth-term proficiency in a foreign language is determined by successful completion of a proficiency examination administered by UM, or by completion of a fourth-semester college-level foreign language course. AP&nbsp;coursework which meets fourth-term proficiency fulfills this requirement. See the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lsa.umich.edu\/content\/dam\/lsa-site-assets\/documents\/saa-documents\/course-bulletin\/LSA%20Bulletin%202017-18.pdf\">LSA&nbsp;Bulletin<\/a>&nbsp;for further details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Complete all LSA&nbsp;degree requirements, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>LSA&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lsa.umich.edu\/lsa\/academics\/lsa-requirements.html\">general requirements<\/a>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>100 LSA credits (minimum)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First Year Writing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Upper Level Writing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quantitative Reasoning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Race &amp; Ethnicity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Foreign Language Proficiency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LSA&nbsp;Area Distribution<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Degree requirements of your chosen <a href=\"https:\/\/lsa.umich.edu\/lsa\/academics\/majors-minors.html\">LSA major<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Degree requirements of your chosen <a href=\"https:\/\/lsa.umich.edu\/lsa\/academics\/majors-minors.html\">LSA minor<\/a> (if applicable)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>P<\/em><em>lease consult with an&nbsp;LSA&nbsp;academic advisor for complete details regarding&nbsp;LSA&nbsp;requirements.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maintain minimum GPA requirements (check with your advisor in both schools for minimum requirements).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Complete 150&nbsp;total credits (minimum).&nbsp; Students typically complete at least 161 (or 162) total credits (61 (or 62) Ross, 100 LSA).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"det\"><\/a>II.&nbsp;&nbsp;Degree Details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students may choose either&nbsp;the Ross School of Business or LSA as their home school.&nbsp;&nbsp;There are several things to consider when choosing a home school.&nbsp; Please review the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1I9Vdhh0RNj8uxc-IwrW-8zQs1bQbe0eC7a8qlFQUvB8\/edit?usp=sharing\">Home School FAQ document<\/a>&nbsp;for more information and reach out to a dual degree advisor if you have further questions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BBA students may apply for dual degrees with an approved mainstream LSA program, the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lsa.umich.edu\/honors\">Honors Program<\/a>, or the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lsa.umich.edu\/rc\">Residential College<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students pursuing dual degrees may share a maximum of 15.0 credits of business courses needed to meet BBA degree requirements towards the requirements of the non-business major, per approval.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students pursuing an academic minor may share a&nbsp;maximum&nbsp;of 3.0 credits of business courses needed to meet BBA requirements towards the requirements of the academic minor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consult with your academic advisor(s) for specific policies within your non-business major or minor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students will not graduate until an advisor from&nbsp;<u>each<\/u>&nbsp;degree program confirms completion of all necessary degree requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"adv\"><\/a>III.&nbsp;&nbsp;Advising<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>BBA degree advising is provided by a dual degree advisor in the Ross Office of Undergraduate Programs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LSA degree advising is provided by LSA advisors in the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lsa.umich.edu\/advising\">Newnan Academic Advising Center<\/a>&nbsp;and the applicable LSA&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rossweb.bus.umich.edu\/academics\/dual-degrees-minors-special-programs\/bba-dual\/lsa\/\">department<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students will not graduate until an advisor from&nbsp;<u>each<\/u>&nbsp;degree program confirms completion of all necessary degree requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"folrm\"><\/a>IV.&nbsp;&nbsp;Degree Forms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Download and complete the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rossweb.bus.umich.edu\/academics\/degree-status\/degree-requirements\/\">degree checklist and course planning tool<\/a>\u00a0to determine how and when you will complete your dual degrees:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students admitted as BBA First Year and Preferred Admission should scroll down to the Undergraduate section and select the template designated for \u201cStudents admitted as First Years\u201d for their appropriate year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students admitted as Sophomores (Transfer &amp;
