Getting Support While Teaching Remotely

We are here to support you while teaching remotely.  If you need assistance or have a question, we have ways to contact us so we can help.

Standard IT Support Request:

  • (734) 615-3000
  • RossITSupport@umich.edu

During Class IT Support:

Teaching in the Classroom:

Located on the computer screen on the desk is the “Ross IT Assistance” button.  Use this button during your class if you need some IT support, and once pressed, it will notify us that you need assistance, and a technician will come to your classroom.

Teaching Remotely:

If you need tech support during your class, we can provide a “Virtual Assistance” shortcut, which, when activated, notifies the support team that you need assistance.

Note: In order for us to access your class’s Zoom meeting and provide support, please sign-up for the Virtual Assistance shortcut before your first class.

To sign up for the shortcut, see below:

  1. Email RossITSupport@umich.edu and request the “Virtual Assistance” shortcut.
  2. Provide the following information:
    1. Name of your class
    2. Days and times it meets
    3. Zoom session link – We’ll need this information to enter your class when you request support.
  3. We will send you the “Virtual Assistance” shortcut, along with instructions on how to add it to your device’s desktop.
  4. During class, click the “Virtual Assistance” shortcut located on your desktop, and which, when activated, notifies the support team that you need assistance.
