New Faculty Development Series on Equity-Focused Teaching

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is offering a five-part, bi-monthly Faculty Development Series. The program is intended to meet the university’s commitment to excellence in teaching through the lens of equity and inclusion. The series will be accompanied by facilitated learning communities and ongoing discussions to share experiences, ideas, and teaching practices that promote excellence and rigor in our learning environment. The five workshops will engage faculty on topics that broaden and deepen understanding of the concept of equity-focused teaching and provide strategies and skills for continued improvements in our teaching and learning.

Sessions will explore the following topics:

  • Session 1: Inclusive teaching to prepare students for a diverse workplace
  • Session 2: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: It is not what you think it is
  • Session 3: From inclusive teaching to equity-focused teaching and learning
  • Session 4: An introduction to equity-focused assessment
  • Session 5: Learning and the Learner: A perspective to enhance engagement

The workshops are open to new and seasoned faculty. For more information, contact the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Michigan-Ross-DEI@umich.edu.
