Executive MBA Tuition Cost

Ann Arbor and Los Angeles students pay the same tuition. Tuition rate will be based on student’s entering Cohort Group and charged the same rate for all 5 semesters.

Tuition for the Michigan Ross EMBA Program covers:

All accommodations and meals are covered for the duration of extended on-campus residencies. In addition, international and/or domestic travel required for the EMBA MAP project course is covered by sponsoring organizations and/or the EMBA Program. Note that tuition does not cover student’s monthly travel expenses. EMBA students are required to pay for all transportation to and from Ann Arbor and/or Los Angeles. If you are traveling from outside the region, you may be eligible (depending on distance traveled) to stay in EMBA Program facilities on the Saturday night after classes.

The Cohort 30 – Fall 2023 – tuition rates were approved by the University of Michigan Board of Regents in June 2023.  The incoming Cohort 31 – Fall 2024 – tuition rates will be available July 2024.

EMBA Estimated Other Academic Costs (outside of tuition)

In addition to tuition cost, EMBA students may borrow educational loans against the following approved budget items. These budget items are listed for loan purposes only and will not be charges to the student. Students are able to borrow up to the estimated Cost of Attendance (cohort tuition + approved budget items). If a student elects to borrow more than the cost of tuition, they will receive a refund that they may use towards other estimated personal expenses.

The above estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) budget was finalized by the University of Michigan Board of Regents in June 2023.  The estimated 2024 – 2025 Cost of Attendance (COA) budget will be available July 2024.

EMBA Veterans Information

For the EMBA Veteran students that plan to use their Chapter 33 benefits to pay for tuition, please review the VA EMBA Information Cost Sheets to understand your out of pocket expense against the EMBA Tuition structure.

For utilizing any VA benefits, a student will want to visit the U of M Veteran and Military Services website that will help guide you in regards to the process for using VA benefits.  Questions can be directed to Alex Margraves at ro.vetsbenefits@umich.edu. Employer support information 

Employer Sponsorship:

While some EMBA students are sponsored in full or in part by their employers, financial sponsorship is not a requirement for admission.  Sponsored students are those students that are registered and require Student Financial Services to bill an outside sponsor for tuition and fees while they attend the University of Michigan.  Student Financial Services will process deferred third-party billing of tuition and fees to businesses, governments, agencies and organizations desiring to sponsor a student at the University of Michigan.

Employer Support with a Tuition Reimbursement coverage:

Students that are covered for all or partial employer reimbursement after grades are released, then they may want to explore the Ross Short Term Reimbursement Loan. This is a 3% loan that a student would apply for prior to the start of the semester. The loan funds would be used to pay tuition only, The loan would be due 2 months after the end of the borrowing semester.

Residency Status

Multidisciplinary Action Projects (MAP)

All EMBA students will participate in MAP during their second year – Fall term.

There is no cost to the student for participating in MAP. On behalf of the student, the participating MAP company sponsors will cover all MAP related expenses. To account for the cost of MAP covered by the company sponsors, and as per federal regulations, this support must be reported against the student’s account. 

What this means to you and your financial aid:

For Cohort 29 EMBA students participating in MAP in Fall 2023, an estimated “MAP EMBA Placeholder” of $1,766 will show on the financial aid award. This is to record the cost covered by MAP company sponsors. All EMBA Cost of Attendance budgets are also increased by $1,766 to accommodate this placeholder, and to not impact aid/loan borrowing eligibility. Therefore, the budget increase and the corresponding placeholder cancel each other out and create an equal balance of expenses and payments against the student’s account. The MAP placeholder will not reduce, refund or disburse against the student’s account / tuition cost. 

For EMBA – Cohort 29, the MAP EMBA placeholder and budget offset for Fall 2023 will be $1,766. The MAP placeholder will not reduce, refund or disburse against the student’s account / tuition cost.
