Lost and Found

We have partnered with Pixit to help the Michigan Ross community easily identify and retrieve lost items. On the Stephen M. Ross Lost & Found site, you can review the items that were turned in and claim them if they are yours, or fill out a form to inquire about any items not listed.

Lost and Found Guidelines

  • All items submitted to the welcome desk, located at the main entrance of the Ross Building on Tappan Avenue, will be logged, assigned an identification number, and can be claimed through our Pixit platform. Please note that the “Found Time” indicated on the website is the time when Ross Operations Staff logged the item.
  • Items of high value, such as electronics, jewelry, and wallets, will not be pictured on the site. They will be held at the information desk for a short period before being turned over to the University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) on the same day. Depending on the circumstances, such as when an item is turned in right before the building closes, we may submit items to DPSS immediately.
  • Items of lower value (such as clothing) will be pictured on the site and stored for a period of 30 days before being discarded or donated. Water bottles will be stored for 15 days before being discarded or recycled.
  • Patrons claiming an item will be required to provide a government-issued ID or MCard.
  • If Operations staff can identify the owner of an item, they will send an email notifying the person that their property is in our lost and found inventory. Please refer to the paragraphs above for information on how long we will be storing lost items.
  • We cannot ship lost items; they will only be available for pickup at the welcome desk.
  • If you cannot find your lost item in the item list on our website, you can file a lost property report. It’s helpful to have a detailed description and identifying information.
  • Any items deemed to be hazardous or unsanitary by Ross Operations staff will be discarded. We also do not accept toiletries, cosmetics, medications, bicycles, or other wheeled vehicles, or perishables. We reserve the right to refuse acceptance of any item that is soiled, damaged, or otherwise unsanitary.
