Project Proposal Process

Year Two Roadmap

We were successful in meeting our Year One goal of establishing the base level services for Ross Insight, moving Marketing & Communications off their previous email tool and onto the Marketing Cloud within Ross Insight, and bringing the four largest Admissions groups (FTMBA, PTMBA, MAcc, and Undergraduate) over from the Salesforce Pilot Org to Ross Insight. We have also set up a Strategy Governance group, with representatives from Marketing & Communications, Development and Alumni Relations, Executive Education, Career Services, and the Degree Programs to help us refine the implementation strategy for Ross Insight.

Our goals for Year Two of the project have been changed significantly by the School-wide deficit. Ross IT had to cut 16.5 percent from our overall operating budget, or approximately $400,000 overall, to meet budget goals for FY17-18. We don’t have the same ability to augment our project staff with external resources, and we can’t proceed to onboard units and centers/institutes into Ross Insight as quickly as we had initially hoped.

Due to their strategic impact for the School, we will be focused on two main activities in the coming year:

  • Onboarding the remaining Admissions programs (MSCM, MM, EMBA, and GMBA)
  • Onboarding the Executive Education program

Proposal Process for Year Three

We expect these activities will keep us busy for most of Year Two, but we also want to prepare for Year Three. We are opening up a proposal process where units and centers/institutes can work with Ross IT to look at their processes, document their unit’s requirements in more detail, identify any tasks they can do to prepare for onboarding, and make the business case for using Ross Insight. These proposals will help determine how we proceed with bringing groups onto Ross Insight going forward.

During the October – December timeframe, proposals will be evaluated by the Ross Insight Strategy Governance group and Ross It for fit based on multiple criteria, as detailed in this PDF.

These criteria may seem daunting, but please understand that Ross IT will assist you in mapping the information needed for your proposal. The criteria will help us determine the optimum way forward for the School, as we work with at times limited resources.
